To mount a scope on your CZ 457 (or to older CZ rimfire, such as CZ 455, CZ 452 & other), you need scope rings. Here we explain how to select the right ones.

There are two types of scope rings:
#1 Scope rings that attach directly to the rimfire dovetail base
- You simply attach the scope rings directly the dovetail of the rifle.

#2 Scope rings that attach to picatinny rail
- In case your CZ 457 came from factory already with Picatinny rail. Or if you got yourself a Picatinny rail and added it to your rifle additionally as an aftermarket upgrade.
- You then install the scope rings to the Picatinny rail.

As with everything, there is no universal best option and the decision which type scope rings to use depends on your preferences and intended use of the rifle.
CZ 457 dovetail scope rings
Dovetail scope rings only come into consideration if your CZ rifle is not equipped with a picatinny rail from factory.

If your CZ rifle is equipped with picatinny rail, you can skip this section. If not, you can still get one as an aftermarket upgrade and then install picatinny mounts.
Dovetail scope rings attach directly to the dovetail with clamps. These dovetail rings differ depending on the rifle model, because dovetail sizes vary.
It is also worth mentioning that dovetail scope mounts may be the only solution for mounting scopes on older CZ rimfires, including CZ Brno, CZ 452 & others. Because although new made scope rings fit older CZ rimfires, Picatinny rails do not. For example you can install CZ 457 dovetail scope rings on CZ 452, yet you cannot install Picatinny rail from CZ 457 to CZ 452.
The main downside of dovetail scope mounts is the limited variety. Quick-detach mounts, tactical mounts with additional rails, and other specialized designs are typically unavailable. To get any such scope rings, you need to find scope rings for Picatinny base.
Types of CZ 457 dovetail scope rings
There are just two variants and they differ by the main tube size of your scope:
- CZ 457 dovetial scope rings with 1 inch diameter [25.4 mm]
- CZ 457 dovetail scope rings with 30 mm diameter
CZ 457 Picatinny scope rings
Scope rings made for Picatinny are much more common. They use the standardized picatinny system. That means that you can use the same rings on any other rilfe that also has Picatinny interface.

To install Picatinny scope rings to your CZ 457, you must be sure that your rifle has a Picatinny rail. It can come from factory with Picatinny interface, or you can buy it extra as a separate CZ 457 Picatinny rail yourself, and install it yourself (its very easy).
Compared to dovetail scope rings, the Picatinny rings come in all shapes and forms. You can find simple ones that use screws for fixation. You can find rings that use quick detachable levers, allowing you to remove the scope within seconds. It can wear some extra mounting platforms, in order to add offset red dot for short distance shooting.
You can find all Picatinny scope rings based on the main tube diameter here:
- 1 inch [25.4 mm] scope rings for Picatinny
- 30 mm scope rings for Picatinny
- 34 mm scope rings for Picatinny
Picatinny scope rings may also be your choice in case you want to do long range shooting, where the rail itself has to add some slight angle to the riflescope. In such case, search for angled CZ 457 Picatinny rails.
